Creation Order of Your Chart of Accounts

Before you start setting up, you should have determined:

• All the accounts in your chart of accounts,

and, for MoneyWorks Gold users,

• What departmental breakdowns if any you wish to use
• Which groups of departments if any you want to associate with specific accounts

Although it is possible to associate accounts with departments after they have been created, the optimum order for entering the components of a chart of accounts is as follows:

1. Account Categories (optional).

2. Departmental Classifications (Gold only, optional).

3. Departments(Gold only, optional).

4. Departmental Groups(Gold only, optional).

5. Accounts.
