Inventory

The Inventory tab provides information about items that are inventoried, including location and serial numbers and batches.

Note: For items that are only counted, the count is displayed instead of Stock on Hand. The Count value is modifiable by the user, whereas the Stock on Hand requires an accounting transaction to be modified.

The Stock on Hand, Average Unit Cost and Stock Value fields display the current inventory status for the item. These are maintained by MoneyWorks and cannot be altered—they are automatically updated whenever a stocked item is purchased or sold. You can adjust the stock levels by using stock creation and write-off journals, and you can revalue stock by using a stock revaluation journal.

  1. Set the Reorder Level if required

This is the point at which you like to reorder stock.

  1. Set the Warning when stock falls below this level check box if you want to be alerted when your stock is getting low
  1. Set the Normal Order Qty

Any orders creates using the Reorder command —see Batch Reordering will be made in multiples of this. This field is a repeat of the one on the Buying Info tab. If you manufacture the item, it is called Normal Build Qty

MoneyWorks can manage serial and batch numbers for inventoried items such as computers or medicines. Provided you have turned on this capability in the Document Preferences, you can enable serial/batch tracking for individual products. See Locations, Serial Numbers and Batches for more information.

  1. If you want to track the serial numbers on this product, set the Serial number tracking option
  1. If this product comes in batches that need tracking, set the Batch number tracking option
  1. If the batches have expiry dates that need monitoring, set the Batches expire option
