If you haven't done so, you need to set up the tracking for your GST. If you look under SHOW>TAX RATES> you can select the tax code "G" for GST and enter the appropriate accounts there. From then on, the GST will be tracked for you. If you're in Canada, you can also use the Two-Tiered Tax setup to a...

I'm drawing a blank here Rowan.. what's HFS? I did open this evening and everything seems ok - so maybe it is "HFS". Would it be better to copy it to the 'home' hard-drive, do the work, then save it back to the thumb drive for transfer back to the office Mac?

Moving and working on a MW document

I'd like to take a MW document home to work on. Can I simply copy it to a thumb-drive, for example, do some work on it at home, then copy it back to my main Mac at work and keep working on it there? Any potential problems from doing this (other than making an error in copying the file of course)?

Import Contact from vCard

I'm using a CRM program called Daylite and have the ability to export my client information as a vCard. It would be real handy if I could import this into MoneyWorks and save me the trouble of re-typing this when I add a new debtor/creditor.

Or is there another way to do this?

I'm getting a descrepancy in sales figures between my GST report and P&L statement. Any idea what may cause this?

So... if you enter a '*' as the product code, it will skip a line?

Ok.. that's what I thought. But currently my revenue accounts are listed under income and appear under other income. Can I simply change the account type to Sales to have them fall under the Sales heading for the reports?

Sales or Income?

When setting up an account for recording revenue, what is the difference between setting it as a Sales account or Income account?

I"m using Express... and yes, I still can't input anything into that field. I get an error message that says something like "read only field".

I dragged the MoneyWorks document to my Dock and click on it rather than the application. This opens my working file without the startup and goes directly to my document. The only thing I don't like, is that it won't work in the applications part of the dock so therefore resides beside the trash can...

Thanks Rowan... that's what I have been doing... just didn't know if there was a different way. It actually works quite well that way - I just wish vendors would detail the way they list the taxes.

I think you're at the point where an actual accountant would best answer your question. I'm sure there is a way around this and an accountant would be able to provide you with specific entries to make to balance everything out.

If they don't pertain to the business, could you use something like 'Owner's Draw'. They won't directly affect the P&L, only the balance sheet.
