MoneyWorks and macOS Catalina Compatibility

For reliable operation on macOS Catalina, MoneyWorks version 8.1.8 and later are required (Catalina has more stringent security requirements than older versions of the macOS). For Datacentre running on a Catalina machine, full disk access is required (this does not apply to MoneyWorks Gold, Express ...

Re: Upgrade to Moneyworks 8 on Mac

A couple of points of clarification on the post above: 1. When you attempt to upgrade a Cashbook 6 or Cashbook 7, you are informed on the upgrade page (in red) that Cashbook 8 is available as a free subscription, with a link to the subscription page. It is not clear why GammaMan did not see this; 2....

Making Tax Digital (MTD) - UK

As discussed in our December 2018 newlsetter, Making Tax Digital (or MTD) is the UK Government initiative to make VAT processing easier by allowing accounting packages to directly file the VAT return with HMRC, obviating the current requirement to rekey the numbers into the HMRC website. This is sla...

Re: Use Detail.shipped quantity to print separate labels for each line item

According to the manual at m "If you give the form a name that ends in “by detail line”, the form will print once for each detail line on a transaction. This allows you (for example) to print an individual price label for each line item of an invoice (or, if you set the copies function to Detai...

MoneyWorks and MacOS Mojave Compatibility

Our testing has not turned up any incompatibilities with MoneyWorks 8 on Mojave, but note that (like High Sierra) MoneyWorks 7 and earlier are not compatible because of the new Apple file system. Also note that MoneyWorks 8 does not support the new "Dark Mode" feature in Mojave. New securi...

MoneyWorks and macOS High Sierra Compatibility

As advised in our September 2017 newsletter, the new file system in MacOS High Sierra is not compatible with MoneyWorks 7 and earlier, which rely on the old HFS+ file system. This is futher discussed in https://cognito.co.nz/resources/macos-high-sierra-compatibility/ If you want to use MacOS High Si...

Re: Accountant export

Yes. Any report can be sent to excel, and almost all information (transactions, customer/suppliers, items etc) can be exported to Excel.

Perhaps try searching the manual for the word "Excel".

Re: Auto save option

This is unnecessary because of the MoneyWorks session file technology -- your data is being progressively saved as you work. Check that you have not turned this off. If the PC is mucking up the restore from this, then there is something very wrong with your installation. The other thing you can do i...

Provided, as you describe in your previous post, you are just talking to the desktop version of MoneyWorks, just use the COM stuff: https://secure.cognito.co.nz/developer/interfacing-to-moneyworks-using-comvbs/ It is irrelevant that you are using MoneyWorks Now unless (a) you are using the Citrix ve...

Re: Supplier Credit Note

I expect that you enter the credit note as a single line service ("by account") transaction, and not for each item. If the item prices are significantly different, you might want to do a stock revaluation on these (with the contra account being whatever you coded the credit note to). Or yo...

Re: Cannot remove Invoice from Job

The "income" against the job is reflected by the invoice, not the payment. Cancelling the invoice should have created reversing job sheet entries -- maybe they are sitting in Pending (in which case move them to processed, so they cancel out the original ones). Duplicating the invoice and c...

Re: Daily Summary - Zero sales

The report will display the totals against for all accounts of type Sales -- presumably you don't have any of these in your chart of accounts (or don't use them). Sales should always be coded to a sales (or income account).

Re: SubTotal in Quotes & Invoice window

You can't do this on the entry screen, but only when the transaction is printed as an invoice/quote or whatever. It is tricky to do in the Forms Designer, but much easier if you use the report writer -- just save it in the "Plain/Invoice" folder in your Custom Plug-ins.

Re: Update Currency Rates Modifications

You can modify the script however you want. The URL can return anything -- it doesn't need to be simple csv, but you will need to parse the result to pick out the bits that you want.
