Re: Date Range in Ledger Report Erratic

I have found that sometimes this happens when the date entered on the transaction is for a closed period and therefore it picks the first available open period to use. There is normally a warning but this can be just OK'd to. You need to check the transactions and make sure the date & period are...

There is a "plug-in" available from Etiam that will generate Purchase Orders from Sales Orders. Contact admin@cognito.co.nz for details.

Re: Report: P&L 12 months Actual

As you cannot modify reports in Cashbook, the only way to do this would be to generate each month separately (do not exclude zero) and copy into the same spreadsheet. By not excluding zeros, the rows will be the same so you won't have to worry about numbers not matching. Hope this goes some way to h...

Re: Recording invoices

You need to make sure that the lines on the invoice add up to the amount that is showing in the "Amount" field just above the invoice body.

Re: saving a file from gold to express

If you have used any features that are in Gold that are not in Express, this is what shows.

Have you used:
Departments
Inventory
Set up Multicurrency

These would be the main ones that would cause this.

Re: Recover deleted unposted transactions

Hi

When you create the invoice, it moves the Job Sheet Items from Pending to Processed. I am not sure if there is any way to move them back. If none of them are actual purchase invoices, you could try copying & pasting from Processed back to Pending...

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Send Failed Error 10054

Hi I have a client with Datacentre hosted on a machine that is accessed by 5 clients. Every morning at approximately 9:30am (and also after other periods of inactivity of 10 minutes or more), there is a crash which boots all the clients out of Datacentre, loses any information they are entering at t...

Re: Paying Balance on Credit Card

Hi Steve If you have the Credit Card set up as a Bank Account the easiest thing to do for your Credit Card payments is to do a Funds Transfer from your everyday Bank Account to your Credit Card account. Your Credit Card statement should be then entered as a "Payment" against your Credit Ca...

Re: Importing names

Understandable, I know there is a lot of functionality within the Import mapping, including a formula for "padding" but the this is slightly above my level of expertise. Hopefully the guys at Cognito will be able to give you an answer.

Re: Importing names

Go to Edit, Document Preferences and ensure that in the Terms tab you have set the "Make templated codes unique by padding to:" to 4 chars (unless you envisage going over 10,000 and you may want to change this to 5. Then in the import file (I am assuming you are using Excel), format the co...

Re: Help!

To best deal with this, I would set yourself up as a Bank Account (Terry's Investment Credit). So do not do the journal, instead enter a supplier invoice for the Legal Fees and pay it from the business' bank account. Then do a Funds Transfer from the bank account "Terry's Investment Credit"...

Re: Shareholder adding an Investment

This is a Shareholder Funds transaction. If you are adding cash into the business, it is simply a Receipt into the bank and coded to Funds Introduced. If it is plant / equipment / stock being added, you will need to do a general journal which debits the item/s being introduced and credits Funds Intr...

Re: Job / Time billing -- paying a supplier?

Hi Michael Using the Job Timesheet does not actually create an accounting entry so there is no "supplier" to pay. If you want to record it this way, don't use the Job Timesheet but create a Purchase invoice for the consultant's time. Then use the Job column to assign the hours (qty) of the...

Re: Creditor Credit Card Processing Fees

Hi

Just tested and if you overpay the invoices by the 1% then tick the W/O box, you can write the amount off to an account of your choice, in this case a Credit Card Fee account. That is a lot less laborious than new PO's.

Re: Only 2 Contacts for a customer?

Further to charleshorse's post, you do this by having the head office code (i.e. HO) followed by a . then the code for each contact. So some examples would be HO.001, HO.002, etc. You can then send a statement and receipt against them all as one Head Office.

If you rename the label for the price level (I think it's D to F) to the exact same code as the currency, i.e. USD, NZD, etc this works. Grant demonstrated it for us last week. :)

Re: Film Productions Companies

Hi I don't have any experience with Film Production companies but it does sound to me like you could really get an advantage from upgrading to Gold (no, I don't work for Cognito ). The reporting is much more flexible (you can customise the reports to how you would like them) and you could use Depart...
